Caring for stoneware

Our stoneware is fired at high temperatures, so it is strong and durable enough for everyday use. Still, every piece is handmade, and with a little care it will last you for years.

Washing

  • The gentlest option is washing by hand in warm water with ordinary washing-up liquid and a soft sponge.
  • Stoneware can go in the dishwasher, but over time the glaze may lose some of its shine. If you want to keep the colours vivid for as long as possible, wash by hand.
  • Do not use scouring pads or abrasive powders.

Microwave and oven

  • Stoneware is microwave-safe as long as it has no metallic (gold or platinum) decoration.
  • Always put dishes into a cold oven and let them warm up together with it.

Beware of thermal shock

A sudden change in temperature is the most common cause of cracks in ceramics. Don't pour boiling water into a chilled mug, don't put a hot bowl on a cold surface or into water, and never place dishes directly on a hob or an open flame.

Unglazed base

The bottom rim of our pieces is usually unglazed and may be slightly rough. To keep it from scratching delicate surfaces, you can smooth it with fine sandpaper or use a coaster.
